I didn't get the chance to post this earlier, but here's the converted Mabrothrax into Spoilpox Scrivener that I started two weeks ago:

It's not finished yet, but this is a start and certainly meets the minimum required for the model (weapon, extended jaw and big tongue, scroll).

Components include:
  • Horns from the Deceiver C'tan
  • Blade is from the bayonet of the Forge World Nurgle Dreadnought
  • Base mouth (almost completely covered) is taken from the plastic Plaguebearer head with the wide open mouth
  • Jaw is built up with an Ork jawbone from the box of skulls
  • Tongue from the plastic Beasts of Nurgle
  • Scroll from... something; I don't remember now
I want to add more to it, though:
  • The tongue isn't quite right; it needs something more
  • I want to add more scrolls being carried on the right side of the body
  • Also I'll use a bunch of purity seals as extra scroll-like decorations
  • Plus the Nurgling from the Tallyman Death Guard model, which is carrying more scrolls
That can all happen at some later date.

Anyhow, I got that model done before the game on the 22 Sep, but what I didn't end up with time for was basing up Nurglings properly. Oh well.

I've started on the painting now. So the next modelling task is to add some barbed bracken to the Plaguebearer bases, and use Green Stuff or superglue + baking soda to fill and gaps, which will finish them off ready to be coloured in.

O man, that looks great. I agree that the tongue could use a little something more added to it, but otherwise, I really like it so far.

Something to do of a Sunday evening: I've now added barbed bracken to the bases of all 41 Plaguebearers. So that means the metal ones are all now ready to paint!

I want to use some type of filler on the gaps in the plastic models, particularly on the side edges between the front and back pieces of the bodies. The 360° photos on the GW product pages show smooth edges there, so clearly the correct intention is to apply filler.

 stuff! The tongue seems a bit thick. I think he’d choke to death if he tried to fit it in his mouth!

It turns out that yesterday was that later date.

Thanks to some gifted vouchers, I picked up the new GUO model. I've assembled it as Rotigus, but that's not an interesting thing to post as it's by the book. More interesting is what I'm doing with the spare parts in converting other models. At this stage, the only two certainties are that the plague flail will be decorating the Knight's chainsword (it's a great fit, but I need to paint it before attaching it so there'll be nothing to show for a while on that front - the Knight is low priority), and that I've used the prehensile tongue to improve the Spoilpox Scrivener:

You can see that I've also added the other bits that I listed above: purity seals to bump up the scroll, a hanging cloth with more seals on it on the right of the body, and the Tallyman's Nurgling (pinned). Also the Barbed Bracken as required on every base in the army. I think I'm not quite fully done as I want to pick up a few more rolled scroll components; but if I don't, this is certainly sufficient now.

Here are some close-ups of the embellished scroll (noting in particular the way the seals make a Nurgle symbol on the front):

I'm liking that. The extra seals and how they are arranged looks Chaos-nuts mate.

Except from seeing many moldlines on those close-ups it looks pretty nicey.

Dunno why, but in my head i imagine your mabrothrax beeing quite colourful with the flower thing on its base an colourful scroll and a happy chappy nurgling hopping through the fields...

... might have eaten to much colour tonight >_>
