This new boxed set is coming out in late 2018, and features an interesting set of models: a mixed group of Rogue Trader specialist crew members, and a set of Nurgle cultists. Some very interesting models there on both sides.

The concept looks very cool: an alternative to Necromunda featuring skirmish combat onboard a starship. But I wonder if there are some further implications to this set...

Games Workshop tend to make models that can be reused in other games. For example, there are overlaps between Silver Tower, Shadespire, and Age of Sigmar. So I'm wondering if this is the precursor to a new Rogue Trader faction for Warhammer 40,000 (likely plays similar to a mix of Inquisition, Adeptus Mechanicus, and a touch of Imperial Guard). And perhaps a GW (rather than Forge World) cultist army list, with god-specific cultist models. Interesting times indeed.

I'm in two minds about this set.

The army I've built up deliberately excludes cultists. I've got a mix of Nurgle Marines and Nurgle Daemons, both of which are effectively immortal and so I can use them in battles set in any time frame from post-Heresy onwards. Cultists are just mortal cannon fodder; getting attached to a group of cultist models, naming them, giving them personalities and the like seems futile when it can't be the same mooks participating in different battles over the centuries / millennia.

But on the other hand, AWESOME NURGLE MODELS! XD

Those new sculpts are amazing... Both the baddies and the Trader crew. I didn't see anywhere mentioning they were Nurgle theme'd minis? (Though it's not at all hard to see that's what they're meant to be.)

There's a lot of awesomness with this coming - modelwise - wether it be Nugleish Hivepeople or posh Trader/imps.
Gamingwise I am really Hoping this time, shadow war kinda was to sluggish imao for a skirmish based game (maybe it was our gaming group...)

Not sure these are all cultists, they look pretty brutish, except for the maggot and fly thingies.

In case you hadn't picked up on this point, the Q&A PDF at the bottom of this page reveals (end of page 4) that the Rogue Trader boxed set will be an expansion for Kill Team:

More details revealed today at Warhammer Fest Europe including a new trailer video. It's looking very good, and I'll definitely be picking it up. Maybe I'll hint very strongly to my wife that it would make a perfect birthday present?

One thing I neglected to point out, in case you missed it:
You’ll even be able to use both teams in your games of Warhammer 40,000, giving you yet another use for these stunning models.
So that's a mini-faction of Nurgle cultist models that I'm hoping can be added as allies to a Death Guard army. Yummy!

Hooray! :)
The models are cool. If one can recycle them for different games that's another "Horray"!
